For months, I have been wanting to write a Rap song to the powerful words, PEACE, CONTENTMENT, LOVE. As an elementary school teacher I wanted to find a way to bring our many lessons on “Seeing the Good” into a daily practice.  I invited several of my friend’s children that I had worked with last year into the room after school one day and in less than 30 minutes they had created a dance to my lyrics and music.  The film will be available shortly. Just to note:  I had never really used GarageBand but it is user friendly and has Rap beats available.  Your students and children can probably show you how to use it quicker than you can blink!  In this way you have your own music that you can use and if you have older students or children they can create their own!  What an amazing project this can be.

Dr. Rick Hanson notes, “Take in the good. When you do this practice..increasingly you will be able to go directly to an integrated sense of peace, contentment and love”  (Page 121: Hardwiring Happiness).   Adding dance and symbolic movement only strengthens the ties in the brain.

Peace Contentment Love

Pump It Up

A RAP

 Dedicated to Dr. Rick Hanson

Lyrics

Music (first attempt on Garage Band and it worked!) and Video

By: Michele Lilyanna

Whenever I go to school

I feel really cool

I get my peace a-flowing

Then I’m really glowing

Peace Contentment Love

Pump it up

Peace Contentment Love

Pump it up

Whenever I swing on the playground

I feel really free

I get contentment flowing

Then I’m really glowing

Peace Contentment Love

Pump it up

Peace Contentment Love

Pump it up

Whenever I go home

I feel so happy

I get my love a-flowing

And then I’m really glowing

Peace Contentment Love

Pump it up

Peace Contentment Love

Pump it up

Send it out

Take it in

Send it out

Take it in

Peace Contentment Love

Pump it up

Pump it up
